Description: The Black Panther Party or BPP (originally the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense) was a revolutionary black nationalist and socialist organization active in the United States from 1966 until 1982, with its only international chapter operating in Algeria from 1969 until 1972. At its inception on October 15, 1966, the Black Panther Party's core practice was its armed citizens' patrols to monitor the behavior of police officers and challenge police brutality in Oakland, California. She was enslaved by the Wheatley family, who taught her to read and write. Wheatley began writing poetry at a young age, and her first poem was published in 1767. In 1773, she published her first book of poems, Poems on Various Subjects, Religious and Moral. This made her the first African American and the second woman in the United States to publish a book of poemsShuttle Endeavour in 1992, becoming the first African American woman in space.

Description: The New York Cubans were a Negro league baseball team that played during the 1930s and from 1939 to 1950. Despite playing in the Negro leagues, the team occasionally employed white-skinned Hispanic baseball players as well, because Hispanics in general were largely ignored by the major league baseball teams before Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier in Major League Baseball.
